There’s so much to gain by giving your time, energy, skills and enthusiasm to volunteering, writes Sheridan Gaunt from Peterborough Cats Protection.

More often than not, people think that the little spare time that they have, won’t be enough to make a difference. But, that’s where you’re wrong. It’s those few hours that can make all the difference!

Our aim is to help stray, unwanted cats and kittens find their new forever homes. As a branch we do not have an adoption centre or base, so everything we do is achieved through volunteers. Our success is down to the dedication of our volunteers, and we have a variety of roles we are looking to recruit for over the coming months.

There are so many different ways you can help us including:

Fostering - looking after cats/kittens in your own home whilst we find them a forever home.

Fundraising - planning and attending events to help raise money for the branch.

Baking - we often hold high tea afternoons to raise money and we are always looking for keen bakers!

Crafts and keen gardeners - high quality handmade items and homegrown plants are always popular through the spring and summer months at craft fairs and events.

By joining our friendly team of volunteers, you can make a real difference to the lives of cats, kittens and people in your community and do something we think is really worthwhile. We provide the very best in training, ensuring you are well equipped for your voluntary role.

Some of the above roles, such as fostering will require a certain criteria to be met.

There is something very special and rewarding about volunteering. Not only will you meet new people, there is a real sense of belonging. You will not only enrich a cat’s life; you too will feel a sense of enrichment.

So, don’t just think about it, pick the phone up or email us to register your interest.
