Green light to turn Budgens in Peterborough into gym
City planners have given the green light to proposals to turn a city store into a gym.
The Gym Group (TGG) submitted plans to repurpose Budgens supermarket on Sugar Way earlier this year.
TGG is an experienced and successful operator of 24-hour health and fitness outlets. It currently has more than 250 gyms operating across the country, including an existing premises at the Westfield Leisure Park in Westwood.
Documents in the application say TTG “aims to increase access to daily health and fitness activities to a wider demographic to encourage and improve health and wellbeing by providing a low cost and flexible gym membership option.

“The proposals will provide a clean, safe 24-hour facility which fits within the nature of this commercial retail and leisure location.
It is hoped the establishment of a new gym outlet at Sugar Way will lead to the creation of 15 full-time jobs, with TTG recruiting “locally where possible.
