The funeral of a popular Peterborough man known as ‘the Peterborough Bob Marley’ attracted hundreds of mourners last Friday (May 29).
Around 400 people attended the funeral of Judah Christie, a well-known member of the city’s Jamaican community, who died aged 65 on May 8.
Mr Christie received a full rasta funeral, including drummers, horses and traditional clothing.
Born in Stanground, Mr Christie spent the majority of his life living in Bretton.
A carpenter by trade, he leaves behind eight children and 21 grandchildren.
Mr Christie’s daughter, Leah, told the Peterborough Telegraph: “He had the most amazing send-off, it was just mind-blowing.
“It was a really good turn-out and eight of us did speeches about dad, which was really nice.
“We had a film playing at the church that had my dad’s voice playing and that really choked people because we could hear him talking.”
As is traditional in Jamaican culture, a Nine Night wake was held for Mr Christie ahead of his funeral, also attracting huge crowds.
