Born in Stanground, Mr Christie spent the majority of his life living in Bretton.

His daughter Leah told the Peterborough Telegraph: “My dad used to take all the children in the area to the park to play cricket, and that’s the memory most people will have of him.

“He was a bit like the Pied Piper! All the kids would knock at my door for my dad to play cricket.”

A carpenter by trade, Mr Christie leaves behind eight children and 21 grandchildren.

“People nicknamed him ‘the Peterborough Bob Marley’,” Leah said.

“He was always singing and being a typical Jamaican Rasta man, always happy.”

As is traditional with Jamaican culture, earlier this week a Nine Night wake was held for Mr Christie ahead of his funeral, which attracted 400 people.

Mr Christie’s funeral will take place at 2.30pm on Friday, May 29, with all members of the community invited to pay their respects.
