Grace Grimes met the newest member of her family, Mia Grace Vann, on Sunday at the Maltings Care Home in Aldermans Drive, Peterborough.

Mia was born in January, and the family held a gathering at the care home to introduce the new arrival. Alongside Grace, Mia’s mum, Lauren Perkins(23), grandma Jayne Perkins (52), and great-grandma Sandra Goodacre (77), all from Peterborough, were all there for the unique occasion.

Lauren from Fengate, said seeing Grace holding Mia was a moment she would never forget. She said: “Mia is our first baby, so it has been a weird couple of weeks.

“It was very special for everyone to meet up over the weekend not everyone has a great great grandchild, so I know it was special for her to hold Mia.

“We see her on the odd weekend, and it is very rare when everyone goes to see her.

“It is lovely to have the pictures of her with Mia. We’ll definitely tell her about her great-great-gran when she is older.”

Mia is Jayne’s first grandchild, and she said she was ‘over the moon’ by her arrival. She said: “It is still a shock to become a nan, but I am over the moon. She is gorgeous. I’ve been making sure I get my cuddles in.

“Lauren visited my nan when she was pregnant, and I don’t think it sunk in properly.”

While someone becoming a great-great grandparent is rare, in Canada four years ago one woman became a great-great-great grandparent. Vera Sommerfeld was 96-years-old when she welcomed Callie into her family.

The Guinness World Record for the most generations in an unbroken line is seven - or being a great-great-great-great grandparent.
