Family of popular Peterborough music teacher raise money in memory for young musicians

The family of gifted musician Christian Eccles have thanked well wishers who donated to an online appeal to help the causes that were close to his heart.

More than £2,500 has been given through a gofundme appeal set up in memory of the popular music teacher, who was known as ‘Bic’ to family and friends.

His fiancée, Sarah, and sister Roberta say it is it is fitting that donations be shared amongst the schools at which he taught and the causes that mattered most to him.

They said: “We want to help provide music education and equipment for the next generation of musicians, in Bic’s memory.”

Christian (42), who passed away recently, was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds.

In recent years, he taught at the Peterborough Centre for Young Musicians, Hampton College, Hampton Gardens, Stanground Academy and the City of Peterborough Academy.

His family say that Bic’s passion in life was music.

"He was a gifted musician.

"He travelled the world playing drums, bass, and piano, and could turn his hand to almost any instrument.

““He was also a proud member of the Jam Knights, a weekly event at Corby Social and Ex-Servicemen’s Club, that welcomes musicians of all levels.

"Supporting music education and nurturing musicians was always close to Bic’s heart. He believed deeply in giving others the chance to learn, play, and find joy through music.”
