Security expert firm RWS Ltd is planning to relocate from 22 and 22a Barrs Street after more than 30 years due to a planned expansion, and it hopes to convert its current home into residential use.

The commercial use of the premises is currently for: a two-storey office building, factory unit, storage building and storage container.
RWS said planning consent to convert the site into residential use has been granted before, but that “at the time it did not make a suitable business opportunity or the correct time for relocation as which it does now”.

It added: “The site is a deliverable town centre location with the benefit of allowing a current business to relocate within the town to a more sustainable site for their needs and provide less disruption within a residential area.

“If the site was deemed suitable and gained permission the site can be delivered within five years.”

Fenland District Council will now consider the application.
