Entries open for Peterborough's Great Eastern Run for those inspired by two hour London Marathon
Runners who were inspired by the remarkable London Marathon that saw athletes complete a 26.2 mile route in race conditions under two hours for the first time ever are invited to take part in this year’s Great Eastern Run.
The Peterborough half marathon takes place in October, and sees runners coming from across the country to take part.
After seeing Sabastian Sawe become the first person to complete a marathon in under two hours in race conditions on Sunday (closely followed by Yomif Kejelcha, who also beat the 120 minute mark), many people may feel inspired to put on a pair of running shoes on – even if they are not the £450 trainers worn by the the world’s elite.
The city course is known as being a fast route, as it is very flat – leading to many runners setting personal bests.

This year’s Great Eastern Run will take place on Sunday, October 11, and you can now register to take part in the event.
The race is open to runners of all ability, and many choose to raise money for charity.
The day will also feature a fun run, for runners of all ages.
