Tom Davies set up four 3D printers with materials in his kitchen to create an array of face shields and mask clips for NHS and care workers.

Funding was secured when Tom launched a crowdfunding page to cover the cost of three extra printers, materials, postage and which brought in more than £2,000.

Mr Davies said: “I’d just like to say a massive and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us so far.

“We’ve had incredible and often heart-breaking feedback about how valuable these items are and how short supplies are.

“I plan to keep on doing this for as long as there is a need.”

Mr Davies said the printers bought through fundraising will be donated to STEM education organisations at the end of the crisis.

Last month, BGL launched a £1.5 million fund for charities impacted by coronavirus.

Charities wishing to apply for funding should email [email protected] outlining the purpose of the charity, how much funding they are seeking and how they would use the money.
