Crowland magistrate appointed as Vice Lord-Lieutenant

A new Vice Lord Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire has been appointed.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Julie Spence announced that Benjamyn Damazer has been approved by Her Majesty the Queen to serve as Vice Lord-Lieutenant for the county of Cambridgeshire.

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant is appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant from one of her Deputy Lieutenants. The Vice Lord-Lieutenant supports the Lord-Lieutenant, and carries out the normal duties of the Lord-Lieutenant should they be away, ill or unable to attend an event.

Married to Elizabeth, Mr Damazer has been a Deputy Lieutenant for the county since 2014. Born in London, he has lived in a number of places around the world before coming to Crowland in the early 1980s.

Mr Damazer is a qualified management consultant and arbitrator who has worked throughout the public sector trying to improve the quality of public administration. He has been a magistrate for over 25 years and former chairman of the Peterborough and combined countywide benches. Prior to the election of Police and Crime Commissioners, Mr Damazer was vice-chair of the Cambridgeshire Police Authority, and is currently vice-chair of the Cambridgeshire Police Shrievalty Trust and the local Fight Against Blindness charity.

As Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire, Mr Damazer will serve his duties until 30 June 2023.
