Coronavirus: Visitor restrictions at Sue Ryder hospice as Nene Valley Railway reveals altered timetable

Restrictions on visitors at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice have been announced.

The hospice in Longthorpe said following government advice, and to ensure the safety of its patients, volunteers and staff, it is “regrettably unable to allow visitors to our hospice without express permission”.

People who wish to visit should call first.

The hospice said it is also:

. suspending its day service until further notice

. suspending the WayFinders Walking Bereavement Support Group until further notice

. replacing one-to-one and group face-to-face bereavement sessions with support instead over the telephone.

The coffee shop has also been closed.

The hospice said: “Our teams are getting in touch with patients to inform them of these changes.

“These are unprecedented times and we want to thank you for your patience and understanding during this crisis as our hospice teams do all they can to continue to be there.

“Updates will follow.”

Meanwhile, Nene Valley Railway has said: “We will not be running trains this weekend or Wednesday the 25th of March, but we are currently planning to run our Thomas Branch Line Weekend on the 28th and 29th of March subject to further government guidelines.

“If you do visit the railway, please be assured that we are taking appropriate measures by extra cleaning and sanitising of areas where people come into contact with.

“We will continue to update you via our website and social media pages as the situation develops.”

Moreover, Peterborough Pride announced this evening it will make a decision on whether to go ahead with this year’s summer festival in early April.
