Coronavirus: Peterborough restaurant serves up meals for city’s rough sleepers

The MP for Peterborough has praised a city restaurant for providing meals for rough sleepers.

Paul Bristow joined Hot Junction in Westwood to see how it is cooking food for homeless residents currently being put up in hotels to shield them from the coronavirus.

Dozens of rough sleepers were helped off the streets as the pandemic escalated, with the Government paying for them to be accommodated.

Charities in Peterborough have been instrumental in aiding the council as it supports those currently staying in a hotel, while Hot Junction - which cooks food including pizza, burgers and kebabs - has stepped up by providing food.

Mr Bristow said: “The team at Hot Junction in Westwood are typical of Peterborough - generous and community spirited at a difficult time for our city.

“So many restaurants and takeaways have given to rough sleepers and those who are vulnerable. I can’t thank them enough and they make me proud of Peterborough.”
