“In the meantime, Longthorpe Post Office is open as usual and we look forward to seeing you all.”

Meanwhile, Showcase Cinemas has revealed it is reducing its capacity by 50 per cent to allow customers to have a space between each other.

And LNER, which runs trains on the East Coast Main Line, including between Peterborough and London, is offering full refunds to passengers.

The rail operator said: “We want our customers to be able to book with confidence. For a temporary period during the coronavirus outbreak, we have made it as easy as possible for you to rearrange your travel plans after directly booking with us.

“If you buy or have already bought a ticket and want a refund, we’re also making that easier for you too. You can claim a refund online (choose “other” as your reason and put in Covid19 in the text box), by emailing [email protected] or by calling 03457 225 333.

“Our team are on hand to support you.”
