The latest figures from NHS England show that 100 patients have passed away at Peterborough City Hospital or Hinchingbrooke Hospital although one death still has to be confirmed so the trust that runs the hospitals placed the total at 99.

According to NHS England two people died on Saturday (April 25), but the previous figure for the number of patients who died on Friday has been revised up by one and a further death has now been added for the figure on April 2.

Those figures bring the total that have died at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital to 100 but the total given by the trust in a statement this afternoon had not included the April 2 update and so had the total number of deaths at 99.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, a total of 99 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 35 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 64 at Peterborough City Hospital. Patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. They had all tested positive for Covid-19.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Across the UK, the NHS figures released today said 336 Covid-19 patients have died in hospital in England over the past 24 hours up to 5pm on Saturday.
