And within the first day of the campaign going live there have been 199 nominations.

Mr Bristow said: “We called on people to nominate their Peterborough Heroes and the response has been overwhelming.

“We have had 199 nominations in just 24 hours. It has been very moving to read about how local people have gone the extra mile to look after their neighbours and their community.

“They make me proud of Peterborough.”

Mr Bristow said all those nominated will receive some form of recognition from him and they will also be featured in the PT.

The winners will be given a tour of the House of Commons and afternoon tea with the MP when coronavirus restrictions are finally lifted.

Winners will be decided by the judges - Mr Bristow and Mark Edwards, editor of the Peterborough Telegraph.
