The three education providers are marking National Apprenticeship Week, from February 8 to February 14, by showcasing the benefits of apprenticeships.

Peterborough College, City College Peterborough and Stamford College have put together a joint marketing campaign to highlight how people can earn while they learn, gaining valuable skills and knowledge in a specific job role and in a real work environment.

A social media drive will include information about online drop-in sessions for people and employers interested in apprenticeships.

Other posts will link to case studies, myth-busting and a government incentive of up to £3,000 available to employers who take on apprentices.

It is also planned to open a pop-up shop in Peterborough city centre from spring to autumn to promote apprenticeships.

Janet Bristow, Deputy Principal and Head of Service at City College Peterborough, said: “As well as delivering apprenticeships locally to the city’s businesses for many years, the college has personally invested in them, both for new employees as well as our existing workforce.

“We know first-hand the benefits they bring to individuals as well as to our own organisation.”

Alison Fox, executive director for Business Development at Peterborough and Stamford College, said: “Working and studying at the same time is a great career move, whatever your age.

“Being able to earn money, achieve a qualification and gain invaluable work and industry experience is what apprenticeships are about.

“We are always looking for more local employers to work with us, to engage with apprenticeships for new and existing staff, to support their business growth strategy and success planning to future-proof the skill-set of their business.

“Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for both employers and students.”
