Child's painting and cards put smile on police faces

A family of four in Bourne have thanked Bourne officer PC Ingmar Collinson for taking the time to write to their daughter, after she sent officers this spectacular painting of a rainbow.

Isobel, aged three, delivered her painting to Bourne Police Station during the summer to show her appreciation for the efforts of officers during the first lockdown.

Officers were moved by this act of kindness and PC Collinson decided to write to Isobel to thank her and delivered this by hand to her family.

Isobel and her family were not going to forget this gesture, and PC Collinson and his colleagues were in their thoughts again this Christmas, so sent cards expressing their gratitude for the officers working to help keep everyone ‘safe and happy’ through what has been a difficult year and a box of biscuits.

Sam, Isobel’s mum, says: “Back in the summer Isobel wanted to thank all of the emergency services for their efforts so decided to make and deliver these paintings. We weren’t expecting a response so it really took us by surprise that PC Collinson had taken the time to hand write a letter to Isobel and deliver it along with a teddy bear which she loves. Isobel took part in the clap for carers throughout this year and even now she still claps when she sees the emergency services drive past!”

Sergeant Jonathan Smyth paid tribute to the act of kindness and said it put a big smile on officers faces.
