Usually the home opens its doors once a year to the whole community for a summer fete to raise money for their resident comfort fund but the ongoing pandemic has forced the event to be cancelled this year.

Nearby The Letter B pub stepped in though and donated £400 to the home’s comfort fund, which is used to pay for things such as presents, entertainment and days out.

The pub, which won the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year award in 2015 and 2016 and was Pub of the Year in 2012, has raised thousands of pounds for charity and made their latest donation thanks to a series of quizzes and sponsored bike rides.

Deputy Manager of the home Michelle Fletcher said: “Our local community have been very supportive. We have received many gifts, such as PPE, cakes, toiletries, sweets and chocolates. The list is endless and we are so grateful that we are thought of through these difficult times.

The staff and residents were overwhelmed by this kind gesture and thank the Letter B for such a generous donation.”
