Building work begins on £19 million homes construction near Peterborough
Construction is under way on a £19.7 million homes development in a village near Peterborough.
A ground-breaking ceremony was staged to mark the start of work on the 70-homes project in Stilton.
The venture is led by social housing association Cross Keys Homes and will provide 35 shared ownership and 35 social rented homes consisting of a range of 1-4 bedrooms homes, including both houses and apartments.
More than £5.25 million of grant funding for the project has been received from Homes England.

It is expected that the new homes will be ready for residents to move into from next spring.
Claire Higgins, chief executive of Cross Keys Homes, said: “We are very pleased to be working once again with Seagate Homes and our Employer’s Agent, Drees & Sommer to develop this land into much needed affordable homes, and are extremely grateful to Homes England for their continued support.”
Adam Murfet, managing director of Seagate Homes, said: “This project is a great example of what can be achieved through strong collaboration and a shared vision.
“Construction is now under way, with civil works progressing on site, an exciting milestone as we move forward in bringing these much-needed homes to life.”
James Hick, affordable homes delivery manager with Homes England, said: “As the Government’s housing and regeneration agency, increasing the supply of quality affordable homes remains one of our key objectives and we are committed to supporting partners to achieve their ambitions.
“It is great to see that funding from the Affordable Homes Programme is enabling this development at Stilton by Cross Keys to provide 70 much needed new homes.”
