The scheme installed panels on 220 households in the city before a government reduction in solar subsidies.

New criteria to receive the panels has now been set out and residents who have already registered will be contacted if their home meets these criteria with a full assessment then taking place.

Homeowners who now receive the panels will save around £200 every year but will not receive the added bonus of £100 over five years which current beneficiaries of the scheme have received.

Peterborough City Council leader Cllr John Holdich said: “We hope to see more solar panels installed on Peterborough homes throughout the year.”
