RUGBY: Borough fought back from 18-6 down to draw 21-21 with Scunthorpe in Midlands Division One. Tries came from Gedis Marcisauskas, Pete Brudnell and Gus Mberi.

CRICKET: John MacDougall smashed a 57-ball ton for Market Deeping as they beat Godmanchester by nine wickets in the Rutland League. He made 101 not out and struck 14 fours and four sixes as Deeping raced to 135-1 in 19 overs.

CRICKET: Peterborough Town ended their Northants League Premier Division season on a winning note. Cameron Wake struck 75 of Town’s 241-6 and then Jamie Smith took 4-59 as Finedon were bowled out for 204.

POSH: Keith Alexander’s side beat Dennis Wise’s Swindon 1-0 with a goal by Trevor Benjamin.

FOOTBALL: Jim Watson’s Yaxley caused an FA Cup shock when beating higher-level Wivenhoe 2-1 in a first qualifying round tie with goals by Mark Paul and Ricky Hailstone.

POSH: A crowd of 10,756 - the best at London Road for six years - saw Posh put up a brave fight before losing 2-1 to Everton in a Carling Cup tie. Everton sub Tim Cahill scored the winner in the 88th minute.

FOOTBALL Mark Burbridge hit both goals as Ortonians beat Peterborough League Premier Division champions Leverington 2-1.

FOOTBALL: Newly-promoted Three Horsehoes won the big Sunday Combination League game against reigning Premier Division champions Peter Pan 4-3 with goals by Paul Hill (2), Darren Cooper and Glen Kemp. Pan scorers were Steve Zenchuk (2) and Darren Edey.

CRICKET: Sean McMullen went from hero to villain during Peterborough Town’s 75-run win over Spalding in the South Lincs League. He clubbed his first ton for the Bretton Gate club - 110 out of 269-5 - but was later dismissed from the field by his skipper Ajaz Akhtar following a heated argument with a Spalding player.

RUGBY: Borough were crushed 52-8 by Bedford Athletic in the RFU Intermediate Cup. Andy Lesiw scored their consolation try.

CTICKET: Orton Park quickie Duncan Craig took 7-24 in a Rutland League win over Empingham to make it 97 Division Two wickets for the season. That was 34 more than the old divisional record and 22 more than the best ever recorded in the entire league.

RUGBY: Veteran prop Dave Everitt scored the only try of the game as Borough beat his old club Norwich 9-0.

CRICKET: Peterborough Town finished third in the Northants League Premier Division after crushing Overstone by eight wickets in their final game. Neil Taylor took 5-37 and Gary Rice 4-38 as Overstone were bowled out for 85.

ICE HOCKEY: Canadian superstar Gary Unger made his Peterborough Pirates debut but couldn’t prevent an 8-7 defeat at the hands of Whitley Bay. Todd Bidner scored five of Pirates’ goals.

SNOOKER: London Brick Company clerk Neil Duffy won the big East of England Championship at Bury St Edmunds. He beat Craig Black 3-2 in the final to land the £250 prize.

POSH: Supporters who jeered ‘what a load of rubbish’ after Posh lost 2-1 at home to Crewe caused defender Steve Collins to collapse after the game. That was the opinion of Posh boss John Wile, who said: “Steve was quite poorly and I feel that it was due to nervous exhaustion caused by the reception of the crowd.”

FOOTBALL: Giovanni Nespoli scored a hat-trick for ICA in their 11-0 rout of Spartan Aztecs in the Peterborough Sunday League.

CRICKET: Orton Park’s Graham Vere took 8-29 in a friendly win over Ashton Wold.

POSH: Tommy Robson and Bobby Doyle were the scorers as Noel Cantwell’s side beat Reading 2-1 at London Road in Division Three.

CYCLING: Fenland Clarion’s Bill Glover won the Luton Wheelers 12-hour event, covering a distance of 220 miles.

WATERSKI-RACING: Alwalton’s Guy Gooding won the British title.

SPEEDWAY: Brian Clark was the star of the show for Panthers, scoring 12 points in a 47-30 win over Rye House.

FOOTBALL: Posh Youths beat Southend 6-3 with goals by Pino Nardino (3), Martin Bond, Rodney Leadbeater and Tony Cliss but the win was marred by Nigel Barnes suffering a broken leg.

FOOTBALL: Yaxley went second in the Peterborough League Premier Division after beating reigning champions Huntingdon 2-0 with goals by Tony Burgess and Nick Musson.

FOOTBALL: Andy Ross hit five goals on his debut for British Rail in an 8-1 Sunday League win at Warmington.

RUGBY: Richard Maryniak and Mick Mason scored Baker Perkins’ tries in an 8-4 win over Ely.
