Fundraising is Spot on at Peterborough pub

The local branch of The Royal British Legion and St George’s Hydrotherapy Pool in Dogsthorpe each received a cheque for £1,000 at a presentation last week.

The money was raised in the bar with donations from generous customers, a weekly bonus ball competition, Sunday meat raffle and a charity fun day which included children’s activities, a penalty shootout and a “splat the staff” game.

The Peterborough and District branch of the Royal British Legion help to provide training opportunities for ex service personnel looking for work, making the homes of those injured in conflict more accessible, and providing food and temporary accommodation for the homeless. The money raised will help to continue this work and provide ongoing support for service personnel and their families.

St George’s Hydrotherapy Pool is open to the whole community. As well as providing opportunities for exercise and relaxation, the pool offers valuable leisure time for those with physical and learning disabilities.

June Worley, a user at the pool was present to receive the donation, and said: “We did enjoy our visit today to receive the cheque. It was such a lovely atmosphere and friendly people who had collected the money. All the equipment and little extras this money can buy will really make a difference to the pool which has been such a help to so many of us.”

Staff and customers at the Fayre Spot are continuing their fundraising efforts, with a new collection for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
