From Hong Kong with love

Peter Quinn met his future wife Lin while serving in the army in Hong Kong, but their courtship was not always plain sailing.

“His commanding officer sent him to Malaya,” recalled Lin (82).

“I went on a ferry to Hong Kong to see the commanding officer and he said to me ‘are you sure you’re going to marry an Englishman?’

“I said ‘yes, because I love him’.

Lin and Peter (who turns 82 shortly) have four children and 11 grandchildren and now live in Peterborough Road, Farcet.

They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Royal China restaurant in Werrington on Sunday with their family, before enjoying a quieter celebration on Monday at home.
