Fashion show raises £3,300 for young Seb

The event held at Greetham Valley Hotel, Golf and Conference Centre, was organised by Gill Tarrant and Liz Haughton with the help of choreographer Sheila Douty.

The ladies, who are members of Greetham Valley Golf Club, were keen to raise money for the trust, which is the captain’s nominated charity this year.

The trust helps Seb Goold, from Wansford, who lost part of his leg after he fell from a moving coach and his mother Tracey Goold started the event by telling the 180 people gathered what her son has had to go through so far. She also praised all the fundraisers around the local counties for the fantastic help and support they have had from complete strangers.

Daytime to evening wear from Jaeger, Phase Eight, John Lewis and Energy, as well as shoes by Marcia May, were all worn by Liz Haughton, Bev Dolman, Jan Lemon, Gillian Upton, Sue Brand and Hannah Barker. Several companies who were exhibiting on the night reported good business.

The models, who had never done anything like this before, were marshalled by former professional dancer Sheila Douty.

At the end of the show, items donated were auctioned off, including a trip to Leicester Tigers, tickets for the next England v France rugby match, VIP tickets for London Fashion Week, a golf fourball, Sunday lunch for four, bed, breakfast and an overnight stay at Greetham Valley.

There was also a raffle.

Gill and Liz said that people had been very kind and supportive and praised the generosity of people and companies who gave prizes for both the auction and the raffle.

Gill, Liz and Sheila said that it had been very hard work setting it all up but it was really worth it after meeting Tracey and hearing her story.

Greetham Valley Captains Fred Aspin and Cathy Steele were overwhelmed by the generosity of the public and members who attended on the night, but also reserved great praise for the organisation and the models.

The next weekend to raise funds for the trust will be on Saturday, July 25, when the captains charity weekend will be held.
