Tyres dumped near Peterborough beauty spot

Piles of tyres will be cleared at the tax payers expense after they were dumped near a Peterborough beauty spot.

The lorry load of tyres was left on an un-named road leading to Milton Ferry Bridge earlier this week, with several piles left in the undergrowth.

While the land is near Nene Park Trust land, it is unregistered, and therefore it is down to Peterborough City Council to clear the waste.

A Peterborough City Council spokesman said: “As well as being illegal it makes our city look ugly and run down and also has wider economic, social and environmental impacts.

“Fly-tipping has huge knock on effects on our local Fire & Rescue Service, Police, Council and organisations such as Cross Keys Homes.”
