The PAThon COP26 People’s Assembly is being hosted on Zoom on Saturday at 4pm by Critical Mass Cycle Ride Peterborough.

A Facebook page promoting the event states: “People’s assemblies have been successfully implemented around the world for thousands of year, from Athens to India. It is an effective instrument for system change, a recourse the population of Chile and Greece recently have chosen when they felt their governments failed.

“Due to its well-structured process, PAThon COP26 is a tool and a way for real and positive change. It will peacefully transfer the decision-making power and public support from governments that refuse to act on the existential climate crisis back to people’s hands.

“We will collect the outcome of all people’s assemblies happening worldwide and send a report to the United Nations, business and political leaders, including sharing feedback with Peterborough City Council. We want to demonstrate that people can take good decisions and propose viable solutions to current problems facing humanity and that people can mobilise in that direction.”
