“As lockdown has shown, access to our local green spaces is vitally important for health and wellbeing. Our natural environment has an essential role to play in supporting our communities, enabling happy and healthy lifestyles, and keeping people active. It’s so important that we understand, appreciate and protect our environment – for us to enjoy now and for the benefit of future generations.”

The funding, made possible by National Lottery players, was awarded through The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Emergency Fund. £50million has been made available to provide emergency funding for those most in need across the heritage sector.

The UK-wide fund has been set up to tackle immediate emergency actions and help organisations to start thinking about recovery.
