There have been delays to collections of recycling in Peterborough due to a number of staff self-isolating.

Last week, Aragon Direct Services said bulky waste collections had been suspended due to Covid-related absences which has also meant it needs to prioritise black bin collections over green bins (recycling).

Posting on social media, the council-run company said it will ensure all bins will be collected over the coming week as it thanked residents for their patience.

It said: “We have a number of our recycling and waste crews who need to self-isolate. Aragon Direct Services are prioritising black refuse and some areas will have a delay in their recycling collections.

Recycling (green bins) collections scheduled to happen on Saturday (January 2) will not take place now until Monday 4 Jan and it may take a number of days to complete in full next week.

“Leave your bin out and we’ll collect it as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.”

The company also confirmed that the Household Recycling Centre in Fengate has now re-opened.
