Withe the new year now well underway, here are some of the most prominent buildings in the city of Peterborough that we would like to see restored and brought back to life this year.

2. The former Woolworths building, Bourges Boulevard
The old Woolworths or TK Maxx building? I guess that depends on your age but the building which dominates the skyline on Bourges Boulevard sits vacant and left to go to ruin inside after an unsuccessful attempt to host the Vine project. Photo: David Lowndes

3. Former 5th Avenue nightclub, Laxton Square
The sorry looking site in Laxton Square – which also housed Central Park club – has been closed since 2002. It sits partially hidden by security hoardings, dwarfed by the apartment blocks built in recent years. There have been a few false dawns but he once thriving entertainment venue, arranged over basement, ground, first and second floors, is being marketed by Eddisons. Photo: PT

4. The Great Northern Hotel, Station Road
The hotel that sits right at the heart of the gateway of the city and is the first thing you see when you get off the train is far from its former glory. Part of the once great hotel appears to be now hostel for the staff of companies working in the area. Photo: PT
