Dozens of people helped plant trees at a park in Peterborough.

More than 40 people were at Bretton Park on Sunday to take part in PECT’s Forest for Peterborough initiative.

The city charity aims to plant more than 230,000 trees by 2030 - one tree for every person in the city.

This will help to combat climate change by both reducing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and by making the city less vulnerable to flooding and other extreme weather conditions.

The event was organised by the Church of the Holy Spirit (situated at the Bretton Centre).

In total, around 200 trees were planted, according to city councillor Nick Sandford, who is a PECT board member and member of the church.
