Wallet stolen in Oundle distraction burglary

Distraction burglars got away with a wallet after targeting an elderly man in Oundle.

The incident happened when an elderly man answered his door in St Peters Road, Oundle, between midday and 4pm yesterday, to a man who was selling chamois leathers.

He invited him in and purchased the item and the man left. The man later returned and asked the resident if he could change a £20 note for two £10 notes, before asking if he could use the toilet. He was allowed back into the home before leaving for a second time.

Later that afternoon, a second man walked into the house without knocking and said he was there to fit some alarms. The man took the elderly resident into the kitchen and distracted him while he went into the front room and stole a wallet.

One of the men is described as white, aged 50-60, had a limp and walked aided by a walking stick. He was wearing dark trousers, a dark jumper or jacket and a stone coloured woolly hat with a peak. He was carrying a dark blue holdall with red piping on it.
