It covered the New England and Millfield areas bordered by Fulbridge Road, Soke Parkway, Bourges Boulevard, Bright Street, Geneva Street, Park Road, Dogsthorpe Road and St Paul’s Road.

The order granted under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 allowed for officers and Police Community Support Officers to direct a person to leave the area if they had reasonable grounds to suspect that their behaviour had caused, or was likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to members of the public.

Failure to comply with the order could have resulted in arrest.

The police spokesman said: “No arrests have yet been made and no dispersals were issued during the order.”

Asked if further violence is expected, he replied: “There is some community tension but we are hopeful that they were isolated incidents.”

Police are not currently appealing for witnesses but enquiries are ongoing.
