The pub’s management, Ange, James and Martin, have also called on regulars to support them and not let one incident involving a group of strangers to ruin 15 years of hard work and their good reputation.

A statement on the pub’s Facebook page describes what happened. It says: “Two strangers came in and were having a cigarette and a beer in the garden when two other strangers ran in, set about one of the strangers and then pulled a knife and attacked him.

“The air ambulance landed in the Cherry Tree Park and took the injured person to hospital. The police have closed off grove street and retrieved clear CCTV footage of all involved and the incident and are looking for the attackers as we speak.

“We would like to thank all the emergency services for their quick response and hopefully quick apprehension of these dangerous people at the same time as assuring anyone in the extended Woodston community that none of the people involved in the incident were known to us.

“Please don’t let this isolated incident affect the good reputation we have all worked hard to earn over the past 15 years.”
