Suspected stolen clothes worth £2,500 seized from Peterborough car boot sale
Suspected stolen clothes worth more than £2,500 have been seized from a city car boot sale, police have said.
Cambridgeshire Police said the items were found at the Wellington Street sale during a regular patrol of the event.
A spokesperson for the force said investigations were still ongoing into the find. They said: “Car boot sales are usually a great place for picking up a bargain, but the items our officers found during their visit to the Wellington Street sale are not the kind we mean. “They came across a large amount of suspected stolen goods being sold, including brand new clothing with the tags still on, and the total amounted to more than £2,500! “The items were seized and an investigation into the matter is ongoing. “We remain committed to tackling shoplifting and the sale of stolen goods, and will continue to patrol the car boot sale when we can as part of this work.”
