Second arrest made in Peterborough murder investigation as victim named

Police have made a second arrest in the murder investigation started yesterday (January 6) and have named the victim.

Police were called at 4.30pm on Tuesday (5 January) with reports of violence in Southfields Drive, Stanground.

Emergency services attended but Nicholas Bonner, known to family and friends as Nicky, aged 30, of Park Road, Peterborough, died at the scene.

A second man, aged 35 from Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday evening (6 January) and remains in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

A 23-year-old man from Peterborough was previously arrested in Market Deeping on suspicion of murder and also remains in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

No one else was injured and the death is being treated as an isolated incident.

A post mortem is expected to take place later this week.
