Police officer seriously injured in attack in Peterborough discharged from hospital

A police officer who was seriously injured in an attack in Peterborough last week has been discharged from hospital.

The officer, who is in his 20s and a response officer in the north of the county, was conducting a welfare check at a property in Ledbury Road at about 5pm on Monday, February 8 when he was assaulted.

He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge in a serious but stable condition.

He spent much of the week in hospital, but a police spokesman said he had now been discharged, and was still recovering from home.

A fundraising campaign to help the officer has been set up online, and has already smashed its £500 target - with more than £3,000 raised.

He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court last week, where he was remanded into custody to appear at Peterborough Crown Court on a future date.
