Police launch murder investigation after man dies following assault in Peterborough

Police have launched a murder investigation and appealed for witnesses after a man died following an assault in Peterborough today (February 19).

A cordon has been in place at the scene in Brudenell, Orton Goldhay since early this morning with forensic officers seen leaving a property and analysing nearby cars.

Police have confirmed that they were called to reports of violence in the area in the early hours of the morning and that a man was taken to hospital, he has since died as a result of his injuries.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “Police were called at 4.43am to reports of violence in Brudenell, Orton Goldhay.

“Emergency services attended and a man in his 30s was taken to Peterborough City Hospital in a critical condition, but later died as a result of his injuries.

“Officers remain at the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
