Peterborough trading standards warning over cold callers

Peterborough Trading Standards said they have received a number of complaints from residents in the city regarding cold callers offering left over tarmac.

After a initially offering a small quote, the callers carry out the work before demanding a large amount of money.

If you are looking to have work carried out, Trading Standards advise the following:

-Get recommendations from a someone you trust (friend, family, neighbour)

-Always obtain a written quotation and aim to obtain at least three written quotations

- Take time to consider the quotations

- Ask for the trader’s ID and carry out your own checks to establish if they are genuine (never phone a number that they have provided you with to verify their identity)
