The 20-year-old victim was cycling through the alleyway in Eye Road, Welland Junction, at about 1.30am on 12 September when he was approached by a group of boys who stopped and surrounded him.

The group pushed the victim off his bike and one of the suspects punched the victim in the face as they ran off with his bike.

The victim described the group as five or six boys, two of them on bikes and all with their faces covered. The suspect that assaulted the victim is described as black, short and aged about 16-years-old.

A specialised white bike with a distinguishing faded pink spray paint mark near the back tyre was stolen from the victim.

PC Matt Reed said: “This was an aggressive and random attack where the young victim was terrified and feared for his life.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the person responsible and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has information about the incident, or who has been offered the bicycle in the picture for sale, to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
