Peterborough police issue 14 orders banning people from being in certain areas in one month in bid to tackle street sex working
More than 200 hours of patrols carried out in city
Police have issued more than a dozen orders in Peterborough in the space of a month in a bid to tackle street sex working in the city.
Officers have issued a number of Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) to those found in the area, which prevent people from being in a certain area at specific times of the day as part of their work to reduce the anti-social and criminal behaviour associated with street sex working.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “As part of our work to address the challenges that street sex working can bring for our communities and those involved, our neighbourhood officers have been dedicating their late shifts to patrolling areas of the city centre to target people soliciting sexual services and the associated anti-social behaviour (ASB).

In the past month, we have: Issued 14 Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) to those found in the area, which prevent people from being in a certain area at specific times of the day. Anyone found to be in breach of the warning will be issued a Community Protection Notice (CPN), which details formal action required to be taken to prevent further harmful behaviour. Failure to comply with a CPN is a criminal offence and could lead to a criminal prosecution and conviction.
“Launched six investigations into people seeking to solicit sexual services
“Conducted a total of around 250 hours of patrols in the area
“This work helps to reduce ASB in the area and protect those who are vulnerable, we remain dedicated to continuing these patrols.”
