Peterborough police arrest man after reports of suspected drug deal near city supermarket

A man has been arrested after police stopped a suspected drug deal in Peterborough.

Officers were called at 6.20pm yesterday evening (Tuesday 21 July) by a member of the public reporting a suspected drug deal near the train track close to Lidl off Westfield Road.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “Officers were deployed and located a man matching the description given by the member of the public.

The 35-year-old was found with a few wraps of suspected class A drugs on him therefore he was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and taken into custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

“A further search in custody revealed at total of 112 wraps of suspected class A drugs.

“He remains in custody at this time.”
