Peterborough murder: Boy who survived being stabbed nine times ‘will live with this for the rest of his life’

The boy was staying at the property in Cromwell Road where Andriejus Kostiajevas (47) murdered his wife Ligita Kostiajeviene (42) on July 2 last year.

Hide AdHe was woken up by the commotion and was stabbed by Kostiajevas nine times when he went to see what was happening.
Thankfully, he survived the shocking attack and managed to escape alongside a woman who was threatened by Kostiajevas, with the murderer later fleeing into an outbuilding.

Hide AdThe two escapees made it onto the street where they were met by neighbours who called police.
Superintendent Michael Branston, the senior investigating officer, said: “There was CCTV of the street outside and you can see there was really good community support. The two people who made it out had a lot of help from neighbours who called the emergency services. “It was really good to see the community coming together.”
The boy who was stabbed required surgery in an attempt to repair nerve damage to his left arm.
He now has limited use of his left hand but is otherwise making a strong recovery.

Hide AdGiving an update on the boy’s condition, Superintendent Branston added: “The most disturbing thing is the attack on the young boy. “Physically he is okay. There was a high chance he would die but thankfully that’s not happened. He has some nerve damage which will take time to heal. “I can’t imagine what will be going through his head. Some of his testimony was horrific when he described the things he’s seen. It’s going to be with him for the rest of his life.”
