Peterborough man charged with assaulting police officers

A man is due in court today charged with assaulting two police officers and handling stolen goods.

Patrick Johnston, 30, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday 7 October) at his home address in Buckminster Place, Welland, after two police officers were pushed to the ground.

He has since been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker by beating, using threatening behaviour and handling stolen goods, namely a £400 bicycle.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 8 October).
