Peterborough man banned from keeping animals for 15 years after 'subjecting kitten to physical violence'

A man who subjected a kitten to physical violence has been banned from keeping or caring for animals for 15 years.

Luke Roughton, of Almond Road, Peterborough admitted causing suffering to Molly, the Tabby Kitten at a hearing at Peterborough Magistrates' Court earlier this month.

The court heard he 'subjected Molly to unnecessary physical violence' on January 12 this year.

Roughton also pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a woman in January.

He was given a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, take part in a Building Better Relationships programme for 50 days, and Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for 20 days.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122, and costs of £205

A woman whose dog injured a man in March while dangerously out of control has been fined £200.

Angela Ogden (54) was in charge of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Corn Hill on March 20 this year when it attacked the man.

Ogden appeared in Peterborough Magistrates' Court earlier this month where she pleaded guilty to three offences relating to the incident.

She admitted being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control and inured a man, being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control, and not taking steps to ensure the needs of an animal which she was responsible were met to the extent required by good practice in that the animal was released outdoors with the intention not to care for it.

Ogden, of Corn Hill, was fined £200, and ordered to pay compensation of £200, a victim surcharge of £90 and costs of £85. She was also ordered to take part in a rehabilitation activity requirement for 10 days.
