Peterborough man arrested after car crash at city junction

A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash at a main Peterborough junction early on Sunday morning.

Police were called at 6.40pm yesterday (4 October) to reports of a collision on London Road in Peterborough.

Officers attended the scene and found a blue Peugeot 5008 in collision with a barrier at the junction with Oundle Road.

The driver was nowhere to be seen - but a member of the public was able to point officers to where the suspect was.

A 45-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested in Bridge Street on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs.

He currently remains in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
