Police pulled the BMW over on the A1 at Sawtry at about 2.30pm on Saturday.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: "Driver thought it was OK to travel at 130mph in the fog with his young kids in the car.

"He claimed his actions weren't that bad because he’s a “good driver.”"

The driver, a man from Peterborough, was issued with a Traffic Offence Report at the roadside for speeding and will be summonsed to court in due course.

There was no information available as to whether the driver was making an essential journey.
