A police spokesman said: “During the course of the day on Friday (22 May), a number of incidents were reported to us at a house in Orchard Street, New Fletton, including criminal damage and people attending with weapons.

“A 24-hour dispersal order was put in place by a police inspector to give us the powers to direct anyone in the specified area who we believed to be involved in the disorder to move on, or be arrested should they fail to comply.

“The following day (Saturday 23 May) we received further information about a planned fight in Fletton Fields, therefore another 24-hour dispersal order was granted.

“On Saturday evening we were called to Duke Street in Fletton following reports of violence and people with weapons. A third 24-hour dispersal order was granted.

“The orders were granted under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and allows for Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and police officers to direct a person to leave the area specified within the order if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that their behaviour has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to members of the public. Failure to comply with the order can result in arrest.

“The area covered by the order was south of the River Nene and encompassed by the A1260 Nene Parkway and the A1139 Frank Perkins Parkway.

“We will continue to use powers such as dispersal orders as and when we deem it necessary to prevent crime and protect the public.”
