Peterborough councillors insist there must be no more delays on speed reduction measures after major crash sees car hit house
Two ward councillors have renewed their push for more speed prevention measures in place in Peterborough after a serious crash left a woman in her 70s with serious injuries.
On around 6pm on Sunday evening (May 17), a blue Ford Mondeo ploughed into a house- and parked car on the drive- along Paston Ridings.
The incident saw two people suffer serious injuries; the driver (a man in his 40s) and woman who was inside the property at the time (in her 70s) as well as a large amount of damage done to the building. The road was closed for several hours.
The exact circumstances of the crash have yet to be confirmed.

Paston and Walton ward councillors Alex Rafiq and Iva Banyalieva rushed to the scene on Sunday evening and spent time speaking to the police and reassure residents.
The councillors will have an increased presence along the street in the coming days and have plans to visit the family of the injured woman as well as neighbours.
Cllr Rafiq said: “All of our thoughts are with the resident we currently have in hospital and we are treating this issue with the upmost respect and sensitivity.
“The story released by the police at the moment is quite basic and hopefully we will get a further update in the coming days.
“Speeding has been a long-standing issue in the area. There was a fatal accident on the same stretch of road over two years ago and I have been pushing for speed reduction measures to be installed.
"I’ve submitted freedom of information requests about accident numbers but was told that due to these statistics being too low, central government would not fund any of these measures, such as speed bumps or cameras. We have just been told that no money can be found for them.
"Everything I have tried to address issues about speeding on Paston Ridings, Paston Lane and Fulbridge Road, I have been met with the response that there is no money for it.
"It goes wider than our ward too, there are incidents and crashes causes by speeding because of the lack of speed reduction measures.
"As local councillors, we feel as if we have done everything and this needs raising at a higher MP level to central government. We will continue to push for action.”
