Today Orton Waterville councillor Julie Howell, who has campaigned for action to be taken against anti-social driving, warned lives were being put at risk. She said: "This is sheer stupidity. People were leaving the buildings at the end of the working day. Who in their right might drifts cars outside buildings as people are leaving to go home? These people need to have their licences and vehicles taken away before someone is injured or killed.

"Over and over the police remind people that a car driven dangerously is a lethal weapon. Idiots like this let the car community down, because every car enthusiast in Peterborough is inevitably tarred with the same brush. A random member of the public could very easily have been hit by this car. If anyone knows who was behind the wheel of this particular car, telling the police would be the right thing to do.

"It can't really get any worse because it's been consistently bad for a long time now. But this will be brought to end soon. There's no glory in putting people's lives at risk and I'm sure people who enjoy drifting as a hobby, and who wouldn't dream of doing it on public roads, will join us in condemning this stupid behaviour."
