Man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after fatal collision in Bretton Way, Peterborough

A man has been charged with eight offences including causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal collision in Bretton Way on Wednesday.

Neville Smith (22) of no fixed abode will appear at Peterborough Magistrates' Court today (Friday, August 24) charged with:

. Causing death by dangerous driving

. Causing death by driving whilst disqualified

. Causing death by driving whilst unlicensed/uninsured

. Failing to stop after a road accident

. Making off without making payment

. Theft from a motor vehicle

. Fraud by false representation

. Aggravated vehicle taking.

The charges follow the death of Michael Alan Howard (42) from Burrett Road, Walsoken, Wisbech, who was riding a grey Suzuki GSXR 750 K4 and died at the scene.

Michael was a father, grandfather and brother.

The incident on Wednesday at around 5.25pm. Three vehicles were involved in the collision, the motorbike and two cars.

Two other people were arrested by police after the fatal collision - a 16-year-old girl from Peterborough who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking and a 20-year-old from man Peterborough who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle and drug driving.

Both have been released under investigation.
